Helping Hands Unlimited believes that one of the best ways to improve living conditions in a community is to educate its children. A good education provides children with a lifelong benefit, and is a proven method for breaking the cycle of poverty that locks children into a seemingly hopeless life of unfulfilled dreams.
To help keep these schools operating, Helping Hands Unlimited operates a student sponsorship program that allows people like you to sponsor a child. Your gift of just $26 (US) per month will provide a child with an excellent education, a Christian foundation, and books, supplies, and other basics. Helping Hands Unlimited is currently working with a number of Christian schools in the Dominican Republic. If you would like to be a part of breaking the cycle of poverty and giving a child a priceless opportunity to receive an education, click on the “Sponsor Now” button, or click here for more information.

th Haiti and the Dominican Republic are full of people needing help. Combine them in the distance reaches of the border and you find the extremely poor that need help with spiritual, health and education issues. HHU has been invited to an area that has seen little help over the years. Whether you are interested in healthcare, pastor training, Christian schools or clean drinking water, there are people here that can use your help. There are new details everyday as this new program develops. You can be a part of ministering to these Haitians. Click here to find out more how you can help with The Border Project.

While gifts from friends like you are essential to our ministry, there’s a special blessing in being able to work beside those we seek to serve. That’s why one of the most popular ministries of Helping Hands Unlimited is short-term mission trips to impoverished communities. If you, your church or ministry would like to experience the blessing of working with the people we serve, Helping Hands Unlimited can help you organize your trip. We can take you to the locations where we currently have projects underway, or we can help you organize a trip to the location of your choice. We will do everything we can to ensure the success of your trip. We have guest houses available in several different cities that are fully capable of safely feeding and housing your group, and we can provide you with a list of places and ways in which you can serve. In the near future, we will also have trip leaders’ and members’ guides available that will give some basic information about how to plan and prepare for a successful mission trip. In the meantime, please contact us for more information about scheduling and organizing your team. For more information about our mission trips. please click here.

Most of our endeavors aim to
serve as many people in a community as possible. On a few occasions, however, the needs of a particular family are so great that we make a special effort to help them. We met one family that touched our hearts when we were doing relief efforts after Hurricane Noel. The family has six children, and the oldest four boys are all suffering from various stages of Muscular Dystrophy. The father is drastically under-employed, and the mother must stay home to take care of the boys, so the family’s income is often as little as a few dollars a day. Their small home was completely destroyed in the hurricane, so, when we met them, they were living in a very crowded house with several other families. Helping Hands Unlimited has developed a relationship with this family. We have already provided them with some of their basic needs, but we need your help to continue to share God’s love with this very special family. Please click here to read the rest of their story and to learn how you can help.

r church relationships between congregations in North America and those in the Dominican Republic (and other locations) can be a great way to connect with believers in another part of the world. Whether your church is interested in a relationship is as simple as encouraging another church body through prayer and communication, or as involved as providing labor and funds for projects in the sister congregation’s church and community, Helping Hands Unlimited is ready to work with your congregation to find a good match and to help facilitate the relationship. Following the devastating earthquake in Haiti in January of 2010, a large number of displaced Haitians immigrated to the Dominican Republic. The Haitians came with nothing, and with employment opportunities in the Dominican Republic nearly non-existent, they had almost no hope of being able to provide for their families. A number of Dominican churches responded with an outpouring of compassion by establishing feeding programs to provide the immigrants with a hot meal every day. Initially, the government funded the program, but those funds will be ending soon. Dominican churches are currently providing nearly 2,000 meals per day. It is having a huge impact on these Haitian families, but when the government funds run out, the churches will no longer be able to afford the food to provide the meals. Because the need remains great, the Dominican churches want to continue the feeding programs. Even though it costs just $1 (US) a day to provide five people with a hot meal, they need your help to buy the food. If you would be willing to reach out with the love and compassion of Christ and help feed Haitian immigrants who have suffered greatly, please click here for more information.
The ministry of the Voice of the Light radio station in the Dominican Republic i
s tremendous. In addition to good Christian music, they provide news and commentary based on Christian values, Bibles studies and prayer times over the air. When we were introduced to the station in 2005, however, they were about to go off the air due to lack of funds and out-of-date equipment. Because this was a station that was doing things right, had a powerful ministry to its listeners, and a strong vision for the future, Helping Hands United decided to help. Through partnerships with radio ministries in North America, were able to raise funds and provide gently-used equipment to help them upgrade their station. Today, the Voice of the Light reaches almost twice the listening area they once did. They have also begun a Christian cable TV station that shares the good news of Christ throughout the eastern part of the Dominican Republic. If you would like to help keep Voice of the Light on the air, or if you would like to help Helping Hands United support other radio ministries in the Dominican Republic, please contact us. If you would like to learn more about the remarkable story of how God orchestrated our involvement with Voice of the Light, or if you’d like to listen to a broadcast, we hope you’ll take a moment to read the rest of the story by clicking the link above.

About Our Name and Logo Listed above are just a few of the ministries supported by Helping Hands Unlimited. But as the word “unlimited” in our name implies, as the Holy Spirit leads and resources are made available, we are confident our ministries will expand to reach more churches, communities and individuals with the love and compassion of Christ. Our logo also shares the message that our desire is “to share the Son with those we serve.” God’s love is for everyone. That is the greatest message we can share with those we serve. In our logo we have a family walking hand in hand toward the sun. Likewise, we want to walk hand in hand with the people we serve, the family of God, as they walk closer to God’s Son, Jesus Christ. Our mission is to share God’s love with everyone we serve. Our desire is that everyone we serve will be given the opportunity to know God’s Son, and our prayer is that people like you will partner with us in following God’s call to share the Gospel of Christ and serve His people.
Without You We are Nothing Helping Hands Unlimited is nothing more than interesting words without people like you. We rely on like-minded people with a desire to help those in need. We need people who want to make a difference. We are doing what we do because God placed a vision and burden on our heart of helping others in need. Unfortunately we cannot so this without the support of others. We have a low operating budget (like operating from a kitchen table at the moment). At least 90 percent of gifts for projects goes directly to the designated project or program with 10 percent or less going to cover administrative expenses. Our pledge to you is to keep it that way. We want as much of your gifts as possible to go directly to help with the projects and programs we are working with. We need funding help with projects, programs and personnel. Please consider what you can do to help us meet some of these needs. You can mail us a check or donate online. There are links to give to specific programs and projects in the right sidebar of this website. Please pray for Helping Hands Unlimited and for those we are serving around the world.
