In Loving Memory
There were two people who played a big part in the formation of Helping Hands Unlimited. They both sacrificed a lot to minister to the Dominican people. They also helped Rod develop a vision and direction of the ministry of Helping Hands Unlimited
One of these individuals was Orville Fricke. Orville began taking teams to the DR in the early 80s. The teams he led built churches and schools. Orville was known throughout the countryside for being a hard worker and loving to have a lot of fun. There was never a dull moment when Orville was around. He was an encourager and a wonderful supporter.
One of the people Orville encouraged to go on one trip was Raul Rodriguez. It only took Raul one trip to convince him of the need in the DR and his calling to help people in the DR. Raul made many trips over the years. In his later years, Raul helped Rod with school and church projects. One of the more memorable times was when Raul and Rod were in the Dominican Republic during a tropical storm. They stayed for a month doing relief work to help people flooded out of their homes. Raul was also key in helping develop the ministry vision for Helping Hands Unlimited. Raul also went to be with the Lord in 2009.
We are thrilled that the legacy continues from the work these two men of God did. We know they are looking down from Heaven and enjoying the fruits of their work. They set a great example for all of us and they encouraged us to keep the work in the Dominican Republic moving forward. We are thankful their families shared them with the Dominican people and Helping Hands Unlimited.
