One of the best experiences for young people is to go on a mission trip outside of their country. Many youth groups experience service work in North American from serving with local projects to traveling across the country. Traveling outside the US is really important for youth to get a global view of mission and service type work. It also really helps us understand how 80 percent of the world lives. It will help mold their view and their attitude towards almost everything for the rest of their lives. Our trips are partially designed with that mind. Our first desire is to help those we are serving. These are not fun trips even though we do have a lot of fun. They are designed to se
The trips are designed for each particular team. These are not “vacations” or “play” trips. These are designed to help people in need and in some form, help share God’s love with people. Your trip can be an all-work trip (working on some project during your entire trip or it can be split, such as physically working during part of the day and doing a
Our work projects vary for each team. Some teams choose to help us paint classrooms for some of the Christian schools we work with. some do some light construction projects. O
The last day in the country is a time to reflect on the trip, do some readjusting and have some fun. The team will normally spend the last day at a resort close to the airport. You will have time to enjoy the ocean, the pools and more food. The closeness to the airport helps us to make sure you get to the airport on time.
We have an experienced staff of both Americans and Dominicans to help your team accomplish the goals you have for your trip. We will help you plan your trip from the very beginning. We do have a general package for Saturday to Saturday or Saturday to Sunday trips that include all transportation after you arrive in the Dominican Republic until you leave, all lodging, meals, translators (and usually laundry service). Of course, you will have to bring some money for personal spending such as souvenirs. We can also customize your trip more to what you want to accomplish during your trip (which can include more translators and more transportation).
The people, organizations and places we work with, the transportation we use, the places we stay and the food and water we have used for years. We will do everything we can to keep our teams healthy and safe. When teams arrive, we instruct them on the do s and don’t s to keep them safe and healthy. We also keep an eye on them during the week to either remind of things (like drink more water to don’t eat something). If someone does become ill, we do have first aid supplies with us. We also know of clinics and doctors nearby. Our main goal is to keep everyone safe and health during their time with us.
We normally love to have teams between 15-20 people. We feel we can most effectively serve a group that size but we can also handle more or less. Believe it or not, our costs do increase below and above those numbers. We want to make your trip as affordable as possible and still maintain the quality trip you expect.
Please contact us to talk more about these trips and how we can customize a trip for your youth. We have a Trip Leader’s Guide and a Trip Member’s Guide on our trip documents page with information to help you prepare for your trip.
Normally it is good to begin scheduling and planning your trip 9-12 months ahead of your trip (especially to book airfare for large groups). We like it that way but we can also respond quickly to an emergency. There have been groups that have had plans to go to another country or location to serve and for some reason their trip has been cancelled or changed. In the past, we have been able to quickly respond to those needs and help teams have a meaningful trip with us. Please ask and we will do what we can to accommodate your team.
As a youth leader, we know you will want to make this a trip of a lifetime for your youth. We want to make this a trip of a lifetime for the participants and also for those we serve. Above all, we want to see God glorified and people come to know Him (directly or indirectly) as a result of your time serving the poor. That is our commitment to you.
