Hurricane Irma Relief
Helping Hands Unlimited is also open to sharing God's love here at home in the United States. Here is one instance where we were able t4o respond and make a difference in the lives of some people in Florida.
On September 10th and 11th, 2017, Hurricane Irma struck Florida and traveled north over the entire state. The worst-hit area was the Florida Keys. The second worst area was Highlands County and Sebring, FL. Over the years, Helping Hands Unlimited has taken teams from Highlands Community Church (in Sebring) to the Dominican Republic to serve the poor there. Hurricane Irma caused lots of damage with 140 mph winds and lots of rain. Ninety-nine percent of the residents and businesses in Highland County lost power. About half of those had power by the end of the next week. For others, it was nearly twelve days later before their electricity was restored.
Berne, IN Evangelical Church, and HHU partnered to take a team to Sebring for a week (September 23-30).
